As part of their build up to the U-18 European Championships Mary Logue's side took on the Scottish U-18's in a three match series last weekend. While the Irish girls are taking part in the A division Championships, Scotland are off to Madrid for the B division and looking to ensure promotion back to the A division following their relegation two years ago. While all five Connacht player's (Capt. Brenda Flannery, Lynsey Trainor, Dora Gorman, Emily Molloy and Katie Codyre) impressed over the weekend which resulted in Ireland defeating Scotland on Friday evening by four goals to two with Galway's own Lynsey Trainor managing to get on the score sheet. While on the second day a much improved Scotland side proved a tougher test for Ireland as they played out a closely fought 1-1 draw. Sunday morning saw the U-18's back in action early as they again proved too strong for their Scottish counter part's by defeating them 4-0, in the goals for the girls in green was Emily Molloy who gave an impressive performance while Connacht's Katie Codyre got on the score sheet again. So with another win under their belt the Irish U-18's will be heading off next weekend to European's and we would like to wish everyone involved all the best!!
