To all GHC club members
In order to facilitate continued development of hockey in the country, the IHA are looking to form a development committee in each province to work with the RDOs and help to shape and progress the future of the sport.
For the Connacht branch the role of the development committee would be to work with myself in order to develop the sport across a number of areas including:
- club-school link development
- support of new and existing club structures
- development planning
- coaching
- minihockey blitzes and regional festivals
- umpiring
The committee responsibilities extend to the development of hockey only and to facilitate discussion on development matters, it is not designed to act a replacement to the branch committee. The Connacht branch will still oversee the running of the sport in the province as always and the development committee would act as a complimentary body to this. The Connacht branch have approved the setting up of the development committee.
It is envisaged the committee would meet once every six weeks or so and that meetings will be kept to strict agendas and times so as to ensure meetings are to the point. They will be chaired by the RDO.
If you have an interest in the development of the sport in Connacht and wish to contribute to its future by becoming part of this committee, please contact Phil Oakley as soon as possible (see below for contact details). Your input would be greatly appreciated.
