Coaching Development Manager
The Irish Hockey Association is inviting applications for the permanent full-time position of Coach Development Manager. This key role reports to the National Development Officer and involves the management of the IHA's coaching structure, including associated administrative duties. The position can be based from any of the IHA's regional offices.
Core Responsibilities
- Management and organisation of all IHA coaching courses from Introductory Level to Level 2, including all administrative requirements
- Creation and management of systems to ensure quality control of IHA coaching courses
- Manage liaisons between the IHA and Coaching Ireland and fulfil administrative requirements
- Oversee the creation of a national coach database and the subsequent management of coaches through the coaching pathway. Prepare ongoing analysis for the Chairs of the Coaching & High Performance Committees
- Review all IHA coaching programmes on an annual basis with the tutor pool
- Manage, develop and expand Irish hockey's tutor group
- Develop coaching initiatives outside of the structured awards programme and manage the ongoing Stepping Stones courses
- Management of existing IHA coaching resources and the development of new resources
- Management of Talent ID programme under the direction of the High Performance Director
- Undertake development work within a specific geographical area with direct responsibility for a number of schools and/or clubs
Additional Responsibilities
- Management of the coaching elements of www.hockey.ie alongside the IHA's Marketing Manager
- Organise coaching elements of IHA's annual conference in conjunction with the High Performance Director
- Administration of Level 3 coaching award in conjunction with the High Performance Director
- Contribute to the coaching elements of the e-magazine, Hockey Happenings
Necessary Qualifications, Skills & Abilities
- Excellent knowledge of IHA coaching structure
- Qualified to Level 2 and/or above
- Qualified Level 1 tutor or in a position to attain this award
- Excellent organization and administrative skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Skills in the area of hockey coaching programme design and implementation
- Understanding of how to work with volunteer groups and committees
- Advanced communication skills, both written and oral
- Exceptional organisational skills and an ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- Energy, enthusiasm and a passion for the sport of hockey in Ireland
- Goal and results-orientated
- Attention to detail
- IT literacy
The position will require frequent travel around Ireland and access to a private vehicle is a must. The role may also involve weekend work or work outside of office hours so flexibility is also important.
