The GHC Ladies 1sts Team got their league campaign off to a winning start with a convincing 3-0 victory over Greenfields 2nds on Sunday 26 September. GHC took charge from the first whistle and put strong pressure on the Greenfields defence, narrowly missing an early chance at goal in the first five minutes of play. The pressure continued throughout the first half with Tara Melvin scoring from a short corner. More shortcorners were to follow before Dee Hatton scored a fantastic goal from the baseline during open play. Greenfields came back in the second half with determination and made some quick breaks with Catherine Moore leading from the back, however Galway were able to maintain their composure and Sinead Kelly finished off the Galway goals with a strong flick in the Greenfields circle shortly before the final whistle.
The Ladies will continue their campaign this saturday evening October 2 when they play their clubmates GHC 2nds in what is always a competitive match, all supporters welcome!
