This season witnesses the launch of the National Indoor Trophy Competition. The new format sees eleven womens teams and sixteen mens teams battle it out to become National Indoor Trophy Champions and qualify to represent Ireland in the European club championships in 2011. Both the mens and womens sides of the competition are structured to include a qualification tournament from which six womens and eight mens teams will emerge to qualify for the finals weekend on 6th & 7th February 2010 at the National Basketball Arena in Dublin. The womens qualification tournament is structured as three groups (1 group of 3 teams and two groups
containing 4 teams each) with each team playing each other in a round robin format, the top two of each group qualifying for the finals day. The top two teams in each pool will qualify for the finals day.
